Flying Into Lakefront – Out to Lunch – It’s New Orleans
In New Orleans when we talk about “going to the airport” we automatically assume we’re talking about Louis Armstrong Airport in Kenner. But there’s another airport. In Orleans Parish.
Lakefront Airport is over 80 years old. Not all those years have been great for business. For some of them the airport was boarded up. Today, Lakefront might finally be lining up for take off.
The airport’s latest Director of Aviation is not the kind of guy you’d describe as a seat-warmer. More like a seat-kicker. Ex Mayor of Slidell Ben Morris now heads up Lakefront Airport.
Brayton Matthews is General Manager of an aviation company based at Lakefront, called Flightline First.
Ben and Brayton join Peter Ricchiuti to talk over the future of Lakefront Airport, from fighting FEMA over flood prevention to plans for the airport to be a jumping off poiint to Havana.
