It’s New Orleans: Out to Lunch

Hosted ByPeter Ricchiuti

Tulane University A.B. Freeman School of Business finance professor Peter Ricchiuti holds court over lunch at Columns in Uptown New Orleans. Peter's lunch guests are New Orleans business people, from startups to CEO's, from artists to tech entrepreneurs, musicians to movers-and-shakers. New Orleans is on everybody's list as a great place to party but it's also on many lists of the best place to start a business. Peter's deeply knowledgable and equally levity-laden approach to business conversation neatly makese sense of the Crescent City's contradictions.

Music Biz – Out to Lunch – It’s New Orleans

If you live in New Orleans, you’re a part of the music business. Even if you never go to Tipitina’s or Bourbon Street, the revenue generated by music makes up a chunk of our local economy.

We’re also tied into the empire of the world heavyweight champion of live music, Live Nation, through the local offices of Live Nation Festivals North America.

Live Nation Festivals North America Chief Marketing Officer is Sig Greenbaum. If you’re a certain age you might remember Mr. Greenbaum when he was known as “Sig,” on 106.7 The End. Sig is back on the radio today, as Peter Ricchiuti’s guest on Out to Lunch.

Peter’s other music biz heavyweight guest is legendary Kim Stephens.

Kim is just a regular guy at home here in New Orleans, but in the record business he’s famous for discovering numerous bands who are household names.

From records, to CDs, to iTunes, to Spotify – few businesses are being forced to change as much as the music business. What’s going on and what’s next?

And what can we do about hunger in America and here in New Orleans?
