Aurora Nealand and Monocle – Milo’s Music Parlor – It’s New Orleans
You may know her as the head rose of Aurora Nealand and the Royal Roses, one of New Orleans’ pre-eminent interpreters and performers of traditional New Orleans jazz music.
As if that wasn’t enough, Aurora performs in at least three other bands, and a score of other musical projects, often including international musicians from as far-flung places as Pakistan and India. She’s also written and directed three theatre pieces, and has studied with composers from Oberlin to Paris. Oh, and don’t forget the
Sound Observatory of New Orleans project, an artist in residency space she is developing from scratch in a formerly blighted New Orleans shotgun home. It’s amazing she has time to stop by Milo’s Music Parlor and tell all.
