It’s New Orleans: Happy Hour

Hosted ByGrant Morris & Andrew Duhon

HAPPY HOUR is a cocktail-fueled 60 minutes of random conversation with folks who have nothing in common, other than being New Orleanians in a bar. Featuring extraordinary New Orleans musicians playing live, host Grant Morris and sidekick deluxe Andrew Duhon.

600 Guinea Pigs Cant Be Wrong – Happy Hour – It’s New Orleans

In Cameroon they eat Guinea Pigs. Steamed. In banana leaves. Victoria Coy knows because when she was there working with women and Pygmies she had 600 of the little bone-in breeders in her apartment.

The funny thing was, not only did people eat Guinea Pigs but the Guinea Pigs ate Guinea Pigs too. Not steamed in banana leaves, just on the floor of Victoria’s apartment.

Victoria Coy

Back home in New Orleans, despite what she might say, Victoria is not really a horse breeder but she does have about the most varied and interesting life of anyone in town – and that’s saying something – from political activism to singing country music. Really well.

Maggie Koerner

Maggie Koerner

Maggie Koerner is one of New Orleans’ finest singer songwriters. She fronts her own eponymous band and has a new record out, containing the literally show-stopping song Birds that she sings on today’s Happy Hour. If you’ve never actually seen the term “show stopping” in action take a listen to this.

J Miguez

If you’ve ever heard music played in a bar or store and wondered “where the heck is this joint getting this music from?”, J Miguez is responsible for over 22 million tracks of it. That is probably more songs than you’re going to hear in a lifetime, even if you’re a really long line at H&M or drunk off your ass at The Bulldog. J fills us in on why nobody is actually getting rich in the music business, not even the guy who controls 22 million tracks of it. Allegedly.

andrew duhon

Andrew Duhon finishes off 2016 with a change from what he calls his usual sad bastard songs with a moving paean to the permanence of love. Yes, you read that correctly. Not a heart break tale about the fleeting nature of love but an anthem to the eternity of it all. It’s literally a great note to usher out 2016.
