April in Paris – Louisiana Eats – It’s New Orleans
On this week’s Louisiana Eats!, we take a virtual trip to Paris. Our first stop is a rendezvous with New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu at the St. Roch Market – a place where charcuterie, crepes and cheeses are served – much like in a Parisian marché. St. Roch is the last of the original city markets that formally dotted New Orleans’ cityscape. Built in 1875, this landmark has recently been renovated and restored to its former glory.
Then, cheese expert and writer Liz Thorpe takes us on a trip across France, sampling the many varieties of cheeses that make certain regions in L’Hexagone so renowned.
Next, we visit The Crepe Cart at the French Market and learn about Tracy Kish and Samantha Saliter’s authentic version of the classic French dish.
Roving reporter Nate Winner gives us a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the opulent dessert after party that was part of the John Besh Foundation’s Fêtes des Chefs.
Finally, Bryan Burkey of the Wine Institute of New Orleans offers a champagne toast to our wonderful adventure.
